Yes, yes and YES! A fresh full set of lash extensions just feels right? Don't you agree? Naturally, we want to keep this feeling (and our lashes) for as long as possible. Lets look at how to take care of our lashes after our appointment.
Avoid getting your lashes wet too soon
As a rule, we typically tell everyone not to get their lash extensions wet 24-48 hours after getting them done. The reason behind this is water tends to react with the extension glue and cause it to flash cure. This can cause discomfort and can also cause the bond to break prematurely. At Glamourati Beauty we are sure to apply the extensions correctly as well as implement tools to help speed up the drying time- but still recommend you wait at least 24 hours before showering, working out, or hitting the sauna.
Wait.. I can't sleep on my face?
Nope. Honestly don't even risk it. The amount of sets ruined by non-lash-extension-friendly sleeping are unreal. If you know you're probably going to somehow end up on your face (it happens), then I highly recommend investing in two game changers.
Oh no! Does eye makeup have oil?
Depends. They don't ALL contain oil, but you'd have to investigate before using. Certain oils are notorious for weakening the adhesive. We tell clients to try to stay away from all oils to err on the side of caution, but it should be noted that mineral oil, coconut oil, canola oil and vegetable oils are said to be the worst of them all. It isn't risking your lash extension retention. If you MUST wear makeup, try to find brands or lines that say they are "eyelash extension friendly". Also, once it is time to clean your face be sure to use an approved eyelash foam cleanser and carefully clean all of the eye makeup off. You can find one here available for shipment or pickup.
I really have to brush my lashes?
Absolutely. Use a spoolie to gently brush your lashes throughout the day. Brushing your lashes keeps them all facing the same way, releases any extensions that may be loose, and just keeps them overall looking neat. I personally will brush my lashes if I can "feel" them (you know what I mean). giving them a quick brush almost always corrects the issue.
Find a spoolie tube in your take home bag!
So in short, lash extensions can definitely enhance your everyday look. Proper aftercare isn't just for the LOOK of your lash extensions, it also benefits the health of your natural lashes.
